Halloween

Halloween was interesting this year. Lindsey was up all night the night before with an ear ache. She seemed to be doing better during the day, but had a slight fever. She ended up staying home with Mommy while the other kids went out Trick or Treating. Lindsey passed out the suckers I made. Robert isn't big on going out, so he didn't take them too many places, which was fine with me since that meant not too much candy made it home. Rachel had a bag that she gave to Lindsey. One of the best things about living in a small town, though, is that you get homemade treats and you can trust them. My kids brought home some really delicious caramel corn that reminded me of my grandma. She would always make popcorn for halloween. She used to make chocolate popcorn, I need to find that recipe.

At the school the kids got fake tatoos and Michael decided he needed a Buzz Lightyear on his forehead.

Room Mom

I get to be a room mom this year! I am pretty excited about that. I love spending time with my girl and helping out. It's kinda hard to see my girls since the window was behind them, but the class had a lot of fun. We played Bingo and Chicken Limbo. They also got a cool goodie bag and lots of fun things to put in it.
One of the best parts is that Michael, Lindsey, and Rachel get to come with me. They have so much fun doing stuff with their big sister. For the party Lindsey dressed up as a mermaid. It was her costume from last year, but fit her perfectly this year.

Baby Kitties

Shortly after Rachel was born our Mama cat also had a little of kitties. Right after she weened them we noticed that she was pregnant again! She had her second litter about 3 weeks ago. This past week we put her outside to go hunting, or whatever it is she does outside, and she never came back. She is a good mama so I'm pretty sure she didn't abandon her babies. I don't know if another wild animal got her or what, but we were left with 9 little kitties. I was going to take them to another mama cat to see if she would adopt them, but my sweet daughter couldn't bear the thought of losing another pet so we are bottle feeding the little darlings. One of the babies was sickly, though and it died. We weren't surprised and were expecting it long before Mama left. So now I am left with 8 little babies that almost all look alike. 7 of them are grey striped and one is black and white. I can tell 2 of the gray ones apart, but I'm lost on the rest of them. I need to paint their nails or put different colored bands on them or something. We are doing pretty good with feeding them. They are hungry a lot during the day and they wiggle a lot as you try to feed them, so the girls have had a hard time trying to help out. They sleep all night, though. I'm thinking that they should start eating food here in a week or so. One really nice thing is that Kami, our pug, is helping us out with their toilet. She will lick them and take care of them. Robert is weirded out by it all and wonders if Kami thinks she is a dog or a cat, but I'll take all the help I can get.

Deer Hunting?

So today Robert went out deer hunting and this is what he came back with. This is definately NOT a deer. I'm not exactly sure what we are going to do with the geese. They were originally raised to be eaten by a guy Robert knows from work, but after raising them all summer the guys wife decided that they just couldn't eat them. She has no problem with someone else eating, though. I've never had goose before, have you?

National Anthem

videoTaylor had the opportunity with her class to sing the National Anthem before a volleyball game. She was so excited! It's hard to see her, but she had a good time.

First Snow!

We got snow this last week. It's all gone now, but the kids sure enjoyed it while it lasted. Usually it's a little bit of a struggle to get Lindsey and Michael to get dressed, but they were in such a hurry that they were ready to go outside soon after Taylor left for school. Kami even enjoyed it, sorta. She didn't quite like the cold, but all that wet stuff was pretty neat. It was interesting to see what we found when we went looking for our winter stuff. We discovered that we are going to need to get some new snowpants because the kids have grown. We also got to play a little bit of dress-up seeing what still fit and what we need to buy to get ready for winter. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this or not.

Robert's Surprise Party

Robert's birthday was this last week but we had things going on the day of his birthday so I decided to surprise him with a party on Sunday before. It almost worked. I had it all arranged with my sister to use her house and she got it all decorated. I found a reason to be in Twin Falls, I got ice cream and food to my sister's house and everything. Well, right as we were trying to get the kids to get in the van Taylor asked if it was time for the party. I shhhhushed her and while Robert didn't hear the question, he did hear the shush. Still, he was a little surprised. The kids had so much fun getting him gifts. Taylor found a book that she knew he would like. Lindsey just knew he would love to have a movie and she found the perfect one, The Wiggles! Michael picked out a really great tie. We love you Robert!
