Easter and Some Fun

This past week has been a lot of fun.  We have been able to pick a little bit of asparagus from the ditch banks, but not too much yet.  I hope once it warms up we are able to have a good year.  The weather has been good off and on, it's Idaho after all.  We had some really nice days where we played outside and we've had some really windy days where we didn't want to leave the house.  Taylor is getting ready to start Hunter's Education so we are borrowing a youth sized .22 for her to practice on.  Robert took all the kids out and let them try it.

On Wednesday we went to Family Night at the school's book fair.  The 4 older kids all picked out books.  Taylor had brought her own money, so she got to buy a few more books, the other kids just got to pick out one and I picked out one.  Then, we made them wait until Easter to get their books.  All of my children have realized who the Easter Bunny is, so we no longer have to make a big production out of it, which can be really nice.  After we got done picking out our books then we had our cousins Jonathan, Hannah, and Dana come and play with us while their parents had a meeting.  Their meeting ran late, so they all fell asleep at our house.  Hannah had a doll that she so sweetly laid on a pillow and covered with a blanket.  Dana only wanted Jonathan, so he laid down with her and sang her songs.  It was so sweet and I loved having them come and play with us.

On Thursday the Easter Bunny came to visit Story Time at the Library.  Only Rachel and Elizabeth went to see him, and Elizabeth did not like him at all!  At least I have a cute  picture, even if she is screaming and trying to get off his lap.  She was really tired, though.

Friday my sister Naomi and I went to my cousin's wedding in Idaho Falls.  After the wedding we went out to eat with another cousin and her family and I got to meet a friend that I only knew from Facebook.  It was a lot of fun.  Robert and the kids went over to his Dad's house where Aunt Nicki and Aunt Melissa were at.  They played with the new remote control helicopter that Michael got.  The aunts were also filling plastic eggs for the next day.

Saturday was super busy!  In the morning Robert took Taylor and Lindsey to a Shiver and Shoot archery thing.  It was a 3-D shoot and the girls said they had a lot of fun.  It was certainly a different experience as they shot at things bigger than them, they shot downhill and uphill and even from a platform.  They were telling me all about the different animals they shot.  I guess Taylor did pretty good with the cobra.  Poor Lindsey kept hitting the targets, but her arrows would bounce right off instead of sticking in.

While they were out doing that, the little kids and I went to the community egg hunt at the City Park.  I went with Elizabeth and left Michael and Rachel to themselves.  Elizabeth picked up 2 eggs and she was good with that.  Rachel had a whole basket full.  Michael got about 3, but one of those happened to be a prize egg, so he also got a chocolate bunny that he shared with his sisters.  These were real eggs and they were all supposed to be hard boiled, but we ended up with 2 that weren't, oops.

Then, in the afternoon we went over and had an egg hunt at Grandpa Newey's.  Each child was assigned a different color of egg to find.  That was a lot of fun.  The older kids took right off, they knew what to do, but Elizabeth still wasn't quite sure how it all worked.  It took a little bit to convince her to put the eggs in her basket and leave them there, so she could pick up another one.  It was also fun to hear each of the kids yell out if they found someone else's color and that child would run over there to find it.  I think they re-hid the eggs about 3 times, but after a while someone would just stand and throw the eggs around and not really try to hide them.  Then, we had a hot dog and marshmallow roast.

For Easter we had Stake Conference in Carey, and then dinner at my parent's house.  Poor Elizabeth missed her nap and fell asleep while she was eating.  It was a very nice Easter.
