For Story Time this week we had the Easter Bunny come and visit us. Michael didn't believe it was really the Easter Bunny, he told us that Grandpa was inside. So, when it came time to sit on the Bunny's lap for a picture, Michael jumped right up.
Rachel was not so excited. I sat on the Easter Bunny's lap and held her. No, she isn't asleep, she is trying her hardest to get away from the Bunny and not look at it.
Group picture. There were a few more kids there, but they didn't like the Easter Bunny, either.
After we met the Easter Bunny then we had an egg hunt. For Rachel's age, we just threw some eggs on the floor and let the littles pick them up.
Poor Taylor got the stomach flu on Wednesday, and Lindsey has an ear infection, but we got them better in time to go to their parties. Taylor's class started their party earlier than Lindsey, so we got to go to some of both parties. When we got to the school, the kids were lined up outside to go looking for their eggs. The eggs were labeled with the kids names, so they had to find only theirs. It made it a little more challenging. Michael helped Taylor find her eggs.
When Lindsey's class came in from their last recess the Easter Bunny was waiting for them. This time Grandpa was at work, so we know he wasn't in there. The class got to get a group picture taken with the Easter Bunny, and then they got to go out and find their eggs that had been hidden.
After school on Friday, we went over to Grandma Emmy's house. She made kites with Taylor and Lindsey out of plastic bags and a wooden dowel. They worked pretty good. Lindsey is getting ready to get hers up in the air.
On Saturday we went to and egg hunt in Carey. I had taken so many pictures at the school that my battery was dead and we didn't get any pictures on Saturday. This was probably the best egg hunt I've ever been to. There were a lot of eggs and so even though there were quite a few children, they all got plenty of eggs. I could go in with Rachel to her area, but the area where Michael, Lindsey and Taylor were was off limits to adults. Even with Rachel, the parents were good and let the kids find the eggs themselves instead of rushing them to get the most eggs. At first Rachel only wanted the pink and purple ones, but then she decided all colors were okay. We picked up eggs until her basket was full and then we finished. This hunt reuses the plastic eggs each year so they asked us to empty the candy and return the eggs, which wasn't a big deal. My kids got more candy than they/we need anyway. I think we will go back next year. It was the first year that I didn't have to console one of my children about why they didn't get any eggs, or only 1 egg while other kids had a basket full.
Easter Sunday was really nice. We had Stake Conference and it was a broadcast, so we elected to go and see it with family in Twin. Afterwards, my sister-in-law had made a ham and funeral potatoes so we went to her house to eat. My nephew just got his mission call this week and so it was fun to celebrate that with them. He is going to be going to the Cleveland, Ohio mission on August 24. We are so excited for him, but I can't believe that I have a nephew going on a mission. I guess when you marry the baby of the family then it shouldn't be surprising that you have nieces and nephews that are older. I know that my kids will have so much fun sending him letters on his mission.
